Hello everyone. I am a new forumer and I am very impressed with all that Ive learned so far. I have a FICO score of 591. My goal is to get into the 700 Club by next year. I have 6 derogs that will be falling off between now and the end next year totalling about $5,000 including one judgement from 2004 for about $600. These are all credit card related negative marks. I also have just under $15,000 in federal student loan debt. I have 8 positive accounts including a Macys credit card that Ive had since 2002. I havent had any other credit cards since 2002. I graduate from physical therapy school in May of 2009 (woohooo!!) and once I start working full time again, I'll be making enough to aggressively pay down my student loan debt. My question is, do you think I would qualify for an unsecured card? Will applying for one and being turned down negatively effect my credit rating? What are the odds that I will be able to raise my FICO score by over 100 points in 1 year?
try some of the bad credit card link's in this forum i raised mine about about 130 in a year.just don't start applying for card's you can't get.it's going to take hard work remember it took time to get in a mess it take's time to fix it PATIENCE,PATIENCE.
Thanks for the advice. I 'll apply for one of those and I'll let everyone know what happens. I am so encouraged that it can be done. I intend on posting my progress every step of the way here on this forum. Patience indeed. Thanks again.
I disputed some that were my husband's and it listed me as au there were some that were not taken off after the 7 year's you need to have true credit or a program like that.look at the task bar under monitoring.a bankruptcy was taken off early no listing of asset's or liabilty but you have to stay on top.there's alot of helpful people on here some of the stuff is over my head but if you look through your report find any error's date's balance's dispute them remember they have to be right 100% of the time you only have to be right once so read on learn then attack them ask question's goodlck
Start by getting the individual reports from each bureau. While something like TrueCredit is good for monitoring, the 3-in-1 reports don't accurately display exactly how each item is reporting. After you get the reports, start going through them looking for errors that you can dispute. Concentrate on things like dates, balance, type of account. Dispute the specific data fields that are incorrect.
Great news! I just wanted to check in to say that I was approved for an unsecured credit card! All of my balances will be paid off completely every month and I will charge no more than 30% of max credit limit!
It would be wise to take that one card and stick with it for awhile. Don't apply for more cards. Let your FICO come up with just the utilization of that card and working on getting things deleted/updated on your credit reports. Remember, applying for new credit lowers your credit score, too. I raised my FICO 25 points in one month, just by getting some things deleted that were old and I GW'd two cc that I had a late payment on back in 2003...both honored the GW letters and updated to show no late payments.
