I searched, and could not find the answer to this, so I hope I am not wasting time. I have a lot of work ahead of me, and so far it is not going in my favor. I disupted a First USA account with a last status date of 05/98 with EX, which is listed twice with the same W/O amount of $6462, in essence looking like I have almost $13,000 w/o with this card. I disputed it as listed twice, and the reply I receieved was that "transferred accounts will remain on your credit report" It does not state who they were sold to, but appears that they sold it back to themselves apparently, or changed the acct#. I thought I would dispute directly with FUSA, and enclose a copy of the credit report page with the information on it... Is that a dumb thing to do? The account numbers are not complete, and I don't have any idea what they would be. It looks like EX didn't even investigate. I am thinking to dispute directly with FUSA and have them validate it. Any suggestions? Thanks a million - if I had it..... EX 535 06/19, 522 06/22 (Go figure that out) EQ ?? TU 486 06/22
Sorry, as I read something else, the OC does not have to follow the FDCPA, and don't have to validate. What is the best way to go about this? I seriously doubt they have kept up with this, it hasn't been updated since 1998. Any ideas?
