I found this in another thread and it spawned a question. I have a satisfied judgement on my CR. It is almost 5 years old now and was wondering if I should try to dispute the address that it is filed under. I assume that the address that they are referring to in the post is the address that I lived at. I am really unclear as to how this would work or is even possible so any thoughts or advise would be greatly appreciated.
Yes, dispute it insofar as that is one less data field to verify it against. Also, attempt to opt out of Lexis Nexis and contact the courthouse. Before contacting the courthouse though, dispute the docket number and date filed with the cra's. If they verify it, contact the courthouse and see if they verified it. They won't have because L-N does thus, see if they'll give you letter to such effect. Send that back to the cra's.
OPTing out of LN good luck.. the only way you can opt out of LN or westlaw You are a state, local or federal law enforcement officer or public official and your position exposes you to a threat of death or serious bodily harm; or You are a victim of identity theft; or You are at risk of physical harm.
I have disputed this with the CRA that the date filed is incorrect and for them to verify it. Once they come back I will do as suggested. I know the court that the original judgement was filed in so would I just call and talk to any one there to ask if they verified the debt with them or should there be a specific person I should check with (clerk, etc...). When I send the information back to the CRA is there a specific letter format I should use to do this? As for the original quote how would this work for the address listing? I want to add that I love this site and appreciate everyone on here that give all the advise to us Newbies...
