Question about lates, chargeoffs...

    derogs, baddies, etc...

    I always hear people mention that "X" company doesn't want any of this stuff on your record EVER for their top of the line card. My question is, if this stuff is only supposed to be on your record for 7-7.5 years, can card issuers see something further back and deny a card for that reason? For example...if you had a charge off 9 years ago...will Amex Plat still deny you or is it really based on just your 7 year history? Not that I'm applying for that or anything. Just a general idea I was thinking about.

    Some compaines keep black list of those who took them.
