I'm moving into a new place soon. There's a section on the lease application, "have you ever declared bankruptcy".

The bk has dropped off my reports. Could they still find out if I said no?

They PROBABLY have access to that (some data-base) even if it was 10+ years ago...

I'm NOT a BK expert though...

thanks George for your replies on both threads.

I was considering bs'ing on my application because I don't want my application to get turned down. Even though I have high scores, the BK might be a cause for denial.

    Slayer....

My suggestion on this is to sit down with the leasing agent and discuss the BK. Make sure to tell them that the BK was over (blah) years ago, and you are more financially stable now.....BS that part. I think that lying on the application could be "grounds" for them to not lease to you, being up front and honest about it might show that you really ARE interested and in a better position.

I don't know what the circumstances of your BK are, but just be honest.
