I have a charge off listed on my account and was wondering what date is used when dealing with the 7 year removal. I see three dates. "Date open" is 04/2001, "date closed" is 01/2003 and "date updated" is 7/2005. What exactly is reaging? Does the date updated matter or is the only date I should be concerned about be the date closed? EDIT: I made a phone call to TU and asked them some general questions about the account, while stating that it wasn't mine. They have first date of delinquency of 9/2002 and said that is what's used for the 7 year rule.
By law, the reporting period for a Chargr Off tradeline is 7 1/2 years from the Date Of First Deliquency. In your case, this is 9/2002, so the tradeline should come off after 3/2010. The actual "Charge Off" date does not matter (technically), it is the above formula. To verify this, call TU again, and specifically ask what date this TL is schedule to be removed.
