I am presuming since I just moved that it is unwise to bother to apply for any credit online since there is no space to fill in a past address? Has anyone had luck with this? I just tried mbna-Apple and basically got put through the wringer trying to verify to them and they ultimately want me to fax them some rather sensative data.
Is it the best bet to just get a paper application and mail it in the old fashion way? Since the paper app more times than not should have a space to place a former address there is less chance for conflict? I am asking because I really don't wan't to bother with anymore online apps (and more inquiries) if they are all gonna kick it back because the new address doesn't jibe with the old one on the credit file. I've been reading about the harm of excessive inquiries and wish to avoid this. Thanks!

You may want to send a letter to each CRA with a request to update the new address on your credit report. I'd also include a copy of a utility bill proving that it is in fact your new legal address. It should take about 30 days. For more immidiate results, you could also try to do it over the phone.

    ...more

I called each credit card company (WITH MY NEW ADDRESS) on the 800# the day I moved in my house and then followed up by letter by US MAIL...

Between notifying each CRA and all your credit card accounts...you should be able to apply ON-LINE in about 30-60 days...
