Unfortunately, I paid (in full) a charged off repossession before learning all I have from this website about credit. I received a letter from the collection agency representing Mitsubishi stating that my account was reported to Mitsubishi as "Settled in Full over two months ago." After checking my credit report, I noticed that Mitsubishi has not updated the tradeline to reflect the paid status. After speaking with them, they stated that they would only change it to "Paid Charge Off" after receiving the letter I received from the collection agency. Any ideas on my best options right now to have the TL either removed or chaged to "Paid in Full"? I know I'm extremely limited in my options, but any help will be appreciated.
You can try a "gee I know you're busy but...." and tell them that they've had more than 2 months to "report accurately" and out of goodwill, you're offering to not file suit for statutitory damages for violating your rights (refer them to Nelson vx Chase Manhatttan) in trade of their FULL deletion of any derogitory / negitive comments on your credit report or complete deletion. OR You can send them a "you are in violation of....." please forward my statutory damages of $1000. Then offer that you are willing to negotiate a settlement of complete removal or removal of ALL derog. references on the acct.
I can give that a try, the only problem I see is that the CA said they notified them. I have no proof otherwise that this actually happened.
