Hello to all the credit gurus. I was wondering if you could help with a quick question about my situation with Sears. About 3 weeks ago I sent a goodwill letter to Sears regarding some lates on my account. About one week later, one by one, the Sears TL from each of the CRA's noted "Account information disputed by consumer." It's been noted as such for about 2 weeks now and nothing has changed. Is this normal? Why would it state that it is dispute when I only asked for a goodwill adjustment? Does anybody who has first hand experience with Sears goodwill know if this is a good or bad thing? Thanks in advance and keep up this great board. Forgot to mention that my scores have gone up about 30-50 points due to the terrific advice I've gotten from you guys.
I sent Sears a goodwill letter and about 3 weeks later they sent a reply saying they were updating my payment history to reflect no derogs. My credit report never showed "disputed by consumer". Are you sure you didn't dispute with the CBA's also? I only had one 30 day late from June or 2001, it was removed on all 3 cba's after I sent them the letter.
thanks for the info sandiego. I'm positive I didn't dispute with the CRA's or Sears. I haven't gotten a letter from them either. The only thing that I think may have caused a problem was that I followed up the letter with a call and spoke with a CSR. The CSR said that she would follow up with it but she may have made a notation that I was disputing it rather than begging for a goodwill adjustment. Oh well, I guess I may be screwed since Sears may not look highly on me for trying to dispute it and then asking for goodwill. Guess I'll try sending another letter when the CRA's say the dispute is over. thanks again for your input sandiego.
