Date Assigned: January, 1997 Date of Last Activity: December, 1996 I was just reading some about the SOL. I live in Illinois and it says my SOL is 7 years. The dates below are how it is listed on my CR. The article I was reading states: -Collection accounts and charge offs remain for 7 years from first serious delinquency or charge off date NOT the last date of activity. Now what confuses me is, this is a medical collection and the accident happened Aug, 1994. Since I did not receive a bill from the OC and I never paid anything to the OC, wouldnâ??t the last activity date be much earlier then Dec 1996, thus making the assigned date earlier then Jan 1997? On my report it does state the original amount as $800.00 and my balance as $230.00, which means my insurance paid the difference. However, I did have 100% coverage at the time, so the insurance would/should have paid all of it. So, I guess what I am trying to say is, since I never had any activity with the CA or the OC how do they come up with this date. Especially since the accident happened over 2 ½ years after they assigned it. I hope I did not make this to confusing, itâ??s just that I am having a hard time explaining what I donâ??t understand. LOL
Medical collections are not reportable on your credit reports until they have been turned over to a CA. Most likely. one of the "scavanger" ca's obtained a record of your old account, (the portion that the Dr wrote off because of insurance settlement at 100% is 100% of THEIR allowable amount, not what he billed) Send a dispute letter to the CRA.I have a good one on my website, titled "Fraudulent Entries".
