I have several old and fully paid debts that are reporting very badly. After getting back my footing I eventually paid one OC and one, having referred the matter to a CA, reports the debt as bad. I don't have a lot of leverage but am thinking of using the fabled nutcase letter. Some of the threads on the subject date back to '02 and before-- does that it mean it's too well known to work any longer? When all is said and done, isn't it just a bunch of angry rhetoric that the creditor's could safely ignore? And what if they do come back with a mocking letter? Is there another route or should I move with this? I know this comes up again and again, but the collected wisdom of the group would be greatly appreciated! Brendan
Are any of your TLs reporting erroneously, such as reporting as charged off with a balance, when they have been paid? Have you been denied credit due to such inaccurately reported information? Have you disputed any of them with the CRAs?
I am in the same boat as you, my friend, and I can't find anything. No one as of yet has outlined a good strategy as to who I should go after. People say that nutcase letters don't work anymore on already-paid debts. I have heard there are still ways to get these items deleted. When I ask what the recourse is after that, I get silence. It's extremely frustrating. I wish I could help.
same story here. paid collections and now i cannot find a recourse to pursue. I am not giving up though. I demanded validation from the CA and they just sent a letter back sayin dispute with CRA. I have disputed with CRA and it was verified. But I figured it would be since the debt was mine and accurate, and i paid it. now 7 more years of 5 paid collections showing on report. I am going to try another letter to CA stating that they collected from me while i lived in a state that requires 50000 dollar bond that i am sure they havent posted. But i am not sure that they have to post if the OC is in a different state and they have no offices here. the secretary of state office wasnt much help either.
