Sure glad all you experts are on this board! Still newbie here and trying to educate myself (this could be a FULL time job - right?) I have one paid medical collection from a CA that shows as still owing on EQ, paid on the others. EQ has DOLA 5/98. EX has date assigned 5/99 and status date 1/01. I have read everything I can find on these boards about HIPAA and Validations. My questions: does the date of the treatment (most likely in 98) preclude me from taking the HIPAA approach with the original medical provider? Also, I've read NOT to validate it with the CA. But (and this is IF it falls into the valid dates for HIPAA), how would I know if the Original provider is providing the personal info to the CA without requesting validation from the CA? Thanks heaps
I would suggest you look at whychat's site for HIPPA info. I know that several people on some of the boards have used HIPPA for all medical accounts. Some delete and some don't but most who use his exact instructions have success.
http://www.hhs.gov/ocr/hipaa/ My take would be I don't believe the CA's fall into this category however the doctors office does.
