Couple questions from a newbie. I just pulled my first credit report from Experian and have a collection agency on there as well as some CC's with 30/60 days late.

    1) I have 3 medical bills at a CA. Two are small, one is larger ($450). I'm am slowly paying on all 3 accounts. Can I send a letter to the CA to verify/challenge the debt? Or do I send a letter directly to Experian asking them to verify? How would you proceed? Which Letter should I use?

    2) I have some 30/60 day late payments on a current CC as well as a closed CC. Again, do I send a letter to the CC company or Experian? Which Letter?

    Thanks,

    Dunderhead

You can try to get the CA to verify, but if you owe them then they'll verify.

What you should try to do, however - is negotiate with them. Try to get something in writing that states they'll remove it from your credit report if you make the payment. Someone else also mentioned to try talking to the original lender and not the CA.

If they say no, then wait about a six months to a year, then try to send the verification letter.

Are you paying on the one you want to dispute? If not, send validation letter to CA certified, RRR. Wait til you get the green card back and then dispute with CRA. Works a lot of the time. If you are paying on it, validation won't work.

Most of my Negatives are accounts that I still have open, a couple CC's and a couple Medical Bills in Collections.

I'll go ahead and sent a letter to the closed CC's, but what do I do about the open ones? I plan on paying them off next month (Income Tax Refund), at that point can I ask for them to remove the 30/50 notices?

    Thanks,

I would send the V.Letter to give them a chance to violate your rights. If they do you can sue them for 1000 per.this would pay the debt and get it removed from your records.

Send them a letter negotitating payment in exchange for deletion. Get everything in writing or they won't honor any agreement.

If you don't negotiate it, it will never be done.

Thanks for the advice. What if they are CC's that I don't want to close? I'd love to pay them off and continue to use them and also have then remove those negatives? Am I dreaming?

Probably. You can always ask. Which card companies are we talking about? Some are nicer than others.

I have a Capital One as well as a Visa from my Credit Union.

CapOne has done it for others. Credit Union, no idea.
