A little intro. My name is Ames. My credit is a MESS. My fault, due to bad economy, personal issues, blah, blah, blah. Basically my fault for thinking that what I had in credit balances wasn't too bad when the economy was good, kinda hating life right now and trying to make it right.

So I'm looking at my credit report (eek! this is the first of many questions, I'm sure) and there is a 90 day past due for a national chain store and it's not mine. I figure out it's a relatives who filed BK. Can I get this off my credit any way? I know I can write a letter and question it and hope they don't respond in 30 days but is there a different way to approach this?

    TIA!

    Ames

You can dispute the account citing "Not my responsibility, only an Authorized User." Can't give any specific odds as to whether it will come off or not. It can depend on a number of things.

First thing you should do is remove yourself from this account; call the credit card company, explain you're an AU and that you're requesting removal from the account.
