I have an account on my cr that is being reported by the original creditor. The account has been turned over to a ca and I think that I will be able to negotiate a settlement. The collection agency is not, at this time anyway, reporting it on my cr. My question is this, Is there any point in negotiating a settlement for deletion as the original creditor and not the ca are reporting it? Can the ca remove the listing by the original creditor?

The original creditor will have to remove their own listing. No one else can do that. As far as the ca is concerned, all I can suggest is what I did. I had a ca call me. I asked if it was being reported and was told it wouldn't be reported if I paid before 30 days. I asked for that in writing, and said I would pay if they sent me that. They did, I pd. and nothing has shown up on my reports. (so far)

    Thanks LKH

When the account is assigned/sold to a ca does the original creditor retain the right to report to the cra?

Unfortunately, they have the right to report it as "chargeoff - account sold or transferred - 0 balance". But, if you dispute it as a duplicate prior to them changing it to sold, you have a good chance of getting it deleted.
