I am listed as an authroized user on my sisters discover card.

She paid this off in full in June/01.

My report reads: last up dated May/01. $8K limit
    $7500 balance.

I know if I could get that to read the $0 balance it actually is. It would help my score some. I need all the help I can get.

Does anyone know how often Discover Card reports to the CRA?

Or is there a way to get them to up date this info?

    Thanks,

    Becky

This is a positive tradeline for you and you don't want it deleted by a CRA's errant ways. They have been deleting too much positive information so I'd hit the creditor with the task.

Wait a month or two, if you can. Otherwise, write a certified letter directly to the creditor and include a copy of that tradeline (don't give them your whole report - white out whatever else is on it or "selectively" copy of scan that item) and your personal information page.

Tell them that by not updating they are damaging your credit and ask them to indicate STATUS: Paid/Never late, balance Zero. Include a sentence to the effect that if they do not notify the CRA to update within a reasonable time period (15days???) and you are turned down for, or receive less favorable terms for credit(mortgage/car loan/cc) that you will consider your right to file suit against them.

    Good Luck

    Mist,

Thanks, but can I do that if I am only the authorized user?

Or would my sister have to contact them since it really is her card?

I know it is hurting. It is the only card on my report with such an outstanding bal. The other two have less then $100 balances. Which actually are zero also, but not worth taking a chance on getting deleted by mistake.

How is it showing on your sisters credit report?

I don't know if they would accept the request to update from you but I don't see any reason they could give you not to. After all, it is affecting YOUR credit and they are furnishing info under YOUR ssn#
