I sent a copy of something a gas company sent me to show that the collection from that gas company should be removed from my report. Now, the EQ entry for this collection is marked 'consumer disutes this information'. TU deleted the collection. So, does this mean the entry on EQ is going to stay or will it come off, too? I don't get what the 'customer disputes account info' means in this instance.

They may be checking the authencity of the document you sent them. They did the same to me, and it came off after a few weeks.

I sure hope so. I don't think it just 'in dispute by customer' does much for me.

It appears that the "in dispute" status subtracts the negative scoring caused by the collection account. However, an older collection account has little or no effect on your score anyway. Except that it throws you into the "deragatory" category. That is to say, unless it's your final negative account, an older collection being "disputed" or removed can have little or no socre boost.

I still want it removed, new car that I ordered is coming in at end of November.

Disputed by consumer on EQ reports means that they have an active investigation going on that particular item in the report.

Here is the entry as of yesterday, but today it was updated with a new date reported (as above) and the disputed notation. The whole thing is that this account was recalled from collections by the OC, because they agreed it went to collections in error. Isent that info to the CRA (that the OC recalled it) and today I get the updated record with a new date reported and the disputed note.

Client: Columbia Gas of Account Number: XXXXXXX Date Reported: 08/2001 Amount: 76 Balance: 0 Balance Date: 08/2001 Last Activity:09/2000 Date Assigned: 11/2000 Collection Status: PAID Whose Account: INDIVIDUAL ACCOUNT Collection Agency Information: Allianceone

anyone else have any input? I'm interested in getting as many opinions as possible before I call EQ and discuss it further with them.

It's still a collection account referencing a Paid status - so what. It is still a negative account. I'd dispute to have it removed.
