I have an outstanding collection for an nsf check my wife wrote to a dentist she took my kids to several years ago. My question is, if my wife wrote the check and I never signed as financially responsible for the bills but she listed me has father and insured, can the CA put this on my Credit report? We are still married in California, if that has any bearing. Any suggestions? I sent a letter to prove it is mine and what came back were dentist statements and the form my wife filled out.
Don't know about CA but since you are still married, aren't the assets and debts still considered joint? I really know nothing about this I am just hoping that someone else may know. so I guess what I am rambling-on about, more correctly and succintly is ... BUMP -Peace, Dave

The checking account is in both my wife and my name. The agency however has been unable to produce a copy of the NSF check. My wife wrote the check. I honestly don't know if we ever made good with the dentist on it (meaning paid cash).
