I have been trying to no avail to find a company that offers a secured credit card, reports to all 3 agencies, and requires to credit check. All the ones that I have found require the check, which I don't understand since it is a secured card. Does anyone have any links or info on this? Thanks

do all secured cards require that there be no current collections? I have a Sears card that has been trying to collect for 6 years now. I guess I will have to wait the full 7 years before I can start to rebuild.

Have they been actively trying to collect, or just reporting it on your CR? They're different, you know.

Also, what is the Statute of Limitations in your state? Again, this is different from the reporting period.

Have you disputed these listings with the CRAs as "not mine"?

I don't know what the secured cards require. Just because they pull a credit report and see a charge off doesn't automatically mean that they will refuse you the card. They may be interested in only the last few years, but that's up to each company.

Yes I hav tried reporting these as not mine, didn't work. They have been actively trying to collect this debt for almost 6 years now. Its been sold off to different collection agencies 2 or 3 times now.

Try Orchard Bank...you can apply online and also get terms and conidtions. Smallest deposit is $200 there is a $35 annual fee. There is a chance it might also approve a different Household mastercard with no deposit. I got the card 1mth after a bk7...they say it takes 18mths to become unsecured.

If the CAs have been after you for this long, you need to make sure that it's at least being reported correctly, and not being re-aged or duplicated. A collection that old should have much less impact on your score than a recent one.

Worst case for you would be waiting for another year for the negative TLs to drop off...

How would I go about seeing if they have been re-aged? Thanks
