I understand that inquiries for insurance don't count against. Do inquiries from utility companies count?
We just added a gas grill and the gas company ran a credit check. Thanks.

IF IT IS A "HARD" INQUIRY...YES it counts against you...

    ONE QUESTION...WHY???

Did they charge you for the grill and installation, and you are like paying over 6 months or one year seperate from your gas bill???

Inquires for insurance DO count against you if it is a "HARD" inquiry (demand they change it to "SOFT").

It was just for starting the service. My insurance policy was a "soft" inquiry. I hated to get the gas company inquiry since I've declared an "inquiry moratorium"!!

    Why didn't you pay a $100 or $200 deposit???

Or you can have the "old" company send payment history...too late now.

ALL HARD INQUIRIES NEED TO BE OUTLAWED!!!
