    Hi everyone -

It's been a loooong time since I posted - but I am still actively working on my credit. On experian, I started with 17 derogs... now I only have 3 and they are all charged off credit cards. The amounts are all under 1K. I am having a hard time getting them to agree to deleting for payment in full. Seems they would rather get nothing than to delete. Does anyone have any advice for me on how to go about this and make it work? (By the way, they are Providian, First Premier, and Capital One and they are all from about three years ago... they have all been verified, but I cannot get them to budge when it comes to paying for deletion.)

    Please help me!

Capital One is the only company I've been able to pay in exchange for deletion, and the only company I've heard about doing this. Usually, it just won't happen. Write a PFB to Cap 1, giving them a sob story and telling them that you'd like to make good on your commitment if they'll delete the tradeline. Mr. Cooke may hook you up.

As far as the others, others will agree with me, but I've had luck paying the items, and then PFB'ing the creditors a few months later for deletions. Sometomes works, sometimes may not, but it worked for all of mine. (Citibank, AMEX)

Thanks for the advice. I'll try it. I'll probably go ahead and pay them as I do owe the money. If I go ahead and pay them, will it help my scores at all?

No, barely, if at all. If you haven't tried negotiating payment for deletion (or even change to R0, neutral status), do that first.

Re: Question re: payment for delet

    jmart,
I have an account with Office Depot through Citi, that I paid off in full before I knew too much about credit repair. I'm curious what you wrote to them via pfb? This is my only negative left besides a late for a student loan on tu. If I could lose this it would be wonderful.
    thanks

Re: Question re: payment for delet

I just wrote that I had financial hardships a few years ago, but still made good on my commitment to pay my debt to Citibank in full.. Told them I hadn't had a late payment in years, but my citi credit entry was causing me to be denied for all credit still....and asked if they would please remove it.. Sorry I don't have tne actual letter..
