Do I have any recourse for creditors calling my house, my office, and my neighbors attempting to collect my parent's debt?

    Thanks,

If your parents do not reside at your home, you do have legal recourse to stop telephone harassment from CAs and you should prepare to record if this problem continues. Tell them that they may not call you at your office and if possible, record that conversation.

With the next telephone call, get the name of the CA, address, contact telephone number then send a CMRRR letter to that address informing them to cease-and-desist contact by telephone or mail. Save any letters AND the envelopes and prepare to record any future calls. You may live in a one-party state or you may opt to tell them that their telephone call will be recorded.

Create a paper trail. Save the green card from your registered letter. Ask your neighbors if they are getting repeat phone calls, if the CA is revealing any "details" regarding your parents alleged debt. If so, ask them to "memorialize" their conversation with the CA.

This may be a CA looking to collect on "zombie debt" and records are your friends. If this is telephone harassment, you could file a police report, contact your state AG, and perhaps - depending on the details - take the CA to court for violations.

Have they already contacted your parents? If so they have no legitimate reason to contact either you or your neighbors, and all such contact is for purposes of harassment.
