I disputed several items online with equifax on July 10th..I have been checking their website every few days to see what the status of these disputes are! Im sure some of you have seen the form they show to check the status. It has the date investigation began and date it is expected to be complete! It says below that it can take up to 30 days, but is usually complete within 2 weeks. All along, it has shown the investigation began date as 7/10/01, which is correct and when I disputed. Today, I went there and that date has been changed to 8/07/01 and the date it is to be complete is still showing 8/10/01...do you know why they would have changed the start date?? I desperatley need these things delted to be able to raise my score enough for a mortgage refinance loan and was hoping to get these things off this week, it has been 30 days after all, as of the 10th..any ideas as to why they did this??

Something like that happened to me also. I got a reply in the mail a few days later. Mine was like ten days after I disputed.

    Just guessing...
They have received answer...they need a few days to fix information, or remove...

OK, George, just to be contrary, I'll say they don't have an answer and they changed the date in order to gain more time.

After all, there is no proof of when the original dates was, so the dispute on line bit just gives them a better chance ot fiddle with the dates and throw some nasty stuff in the punch bowl.

Let's see who turns out to be right just for kicks and grins.

The answer could be REMOVE IT!!!

It takes...what 6 seconds for you to see what I printed...
    when I push "SUBMIT REPLY"?

IF I MAKE A MISTAKE AND HIGHLIGHT IT AND PUSH "DELETE" it is GONE before I can blink!!!

They should be able to click DELETE right next to the account, and it is GONE!!! Right now.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could just "fix" our credit problems that fast??? Eh George???

If a "CONSUMER FRIENDLY LAW" ever gets passed...

You could get a copy of the credit reports...RETYPE it and they have 30-60 days to dispute it or it STAYS...

They would have to have PAPER PROOF...
Matching name/address/ss# on a computer DOES NOT PROVE THAT YOU OWE THE DEBT!!!

isn't "consumer friendly law" an oxymoron?

Well..I went back to the equifax page to see the status of the investigation tonight and it looks like it has been completed. So, now how will I know what it did to my score and what came off and what stayed? Will they send me something in the mail?? Thanks

That is a serious accusation of which you are most likely wrong. It does sound like their investigation is complete or they have received additional information pertaining to the original investigation. The bureaus are regulated under the FCRA and I don't think they would violate a federal regulation over a simple inquiry. Get real...

Do you work for a bureau? You sound personally involved, not an insult, just a question.

They do it every day! Even under the regulations of the FCRA...in fact BECAUSE of the lame regulations of the FCRA.

    FCRA Needs work!

    Dave,

The FCRA stands for Fair Credit Reporting Act (as in regulation). The consumer is responsible for correcting any errors or inconsistencies and are protected by this act. The FCRA is not an agency as you make it seem. Credit Card Companies are covered under the Office of the Comptroller of Currency.

Stick with me people and I will learn ya, dadgummit!
