Is it possible to merger two different credit reports via a phone number? I only ask this for two reasons, some how my husbandâ??s old phone number got on my EQ report. Before we got married, I moved in to his house, I wanted my own phone so we had two lines one in my maiden name and one in his name. He had this line for nine years before we even meet. We got married Sept 8th bought our new house on Sept 27th; we were issued our new number Oct 1st. Now in March somehow my hubbyâ??s old (a closed account) number made itâ??s way on to my report. The other reason is the person who â??ownâ? the number prior to couldnâ??t pay attention and we still get collection call for them, got one tonight. I have mentioned this in prior posts. Itâ??s now April in MI they change the phonebooks. So now when we check on-line our name comes up on our number not the prior owners. But if the â??big 3â? can somehow put my hubbyâ??s old number on to my report could the they somehow merger our reports with the people who have worst credit then I do?
I don't think a PHONE NUMBER has much to do with the accounts you have on your credit report(s)... You can always DISPUTE the phone number...I wouldn't ask for an "OLD" phone number be put on your report...I would make sure your current one is correct...OR DON'T HAVE ANY... The benefit of having your phone number on your credit report is so that they won't ask for "PROOF" of the phone #...one less DENIAL OPPORTUNITY!!!
But George How could my husbandâ??s old, closed account, phone number get on my credit report? That phone number has no connection to me in anyway. Even when we applied for the house we listed two phone numbers. The only thing at this point we have together is our house and our joint checking. Could it be just because I changed my last name?
A lot of WRONG information comes from credit card companies...THEY PUT IT ON THERE!!! I had my address changed by FLEET on my CREDIT REPORTS!!! I never moved. Also I NEVER got any bills for 3 months...(good thing I have on-line account access)... AND A VERY BAD PART OF THE CREDIT CARDS ADDING INFORMATION TO YOUR CREDIT REPORTS...THEY DON'T HAVE TO PROVE ANYTHING CASE IN POINT...I WAS MARRIED TO MY 18 YEAR-OLD SON AFTER I SIGNED HIM UP FOR AN "AU" ON AMEX BLUE...
