I had disputed the same items twice with Experian and they keep verifying them. When I requested another investigation they stated that they had been previously verified. So instead of disputing them as "not mine" I disputed them as "paid, never late". What I wanting to know is? Can you dispute something a different way and still get a deletion? I also had to do this with Transunion because they would not reinvestigate as well.
If you dispute it paid never late, and they verify it now, you have pretty much backhanded admitted it is yours. Now, if the Furnisher doesn't respond, the CRA "can" delete it. Sometimes you have to work both sides. If you aren't getting anywhere with the CRA, you may have to contact the furnisher. Thats why (I think) ontrack asked you the question he did.
Don't underestimate the value of disputing this directly with the creditor. Tell them the debt is wrong and you're going to sue if they don't take it off your reports. You'd have a tough case if you did sue, but it would still cost them a fortune to win.
Oh, and rather than dispute as 'not mine' try 'unauthorized signature.' EXP has this as an option on their on-line system, TU allows you to specify an 'other' reason. For EFX, you have to dispute it this way by phone or by mail.
Yes, but if you disputed it as "not mine" and Experian and Transunion verified and now you dispute as "paid, never late," Will that look bad on my part?
