When you pay off a collection is there any way to have to condition changed that the creditor lists it? for example we paid a collection in full it shows a 0 balance but they still have it listed as a derogatory item. Will this improve your score if the condition is changed to paid/closed. Also if tranunion and equifax list the condition as closed/paid should I dispute for Experian to change the status to this also. Will it improve my score if they are listed the same under each credit bureau.

Having an entry that shows an account as "paid and closed" without any derogatory payment history is definitely better. You could try a goodwill letter to each CA, but there's no guarantee of results.

Since you've already paid the collection, the chances of you convincing the CA to change anything at this point are slim. The best time to negotiate how they will report to the credit bureaus is before you actually pay.

That really will improve your score in the eyes of he new company if you are trying to get a new card . They will consider you as a good behavior customer .
