Questions about validation letters

I'm about to send two validation letters for two different CAs on my credit reports that have come back verified from the CRAs. They are both 5+ years old (and well past SOL).

The question I have is this: These collections date back to when I still had my maiden name. I am now using my married name (as of 6 months ago), and I was wondering which name I should use when requesting validation from these CAs.

If I use my married name, one of the pros is that I will be able to sign the letter, and they cannot possibly duplicate this to have a signature that I had 5+ years ago....correct? And if they DO try to photocopy my present signature as "proof" of validation of the debt, I have them on a violation, right? (Like Fraud...)

The only con I can see of using my married name is that then they could assign these unvalidated debts to someone else, and I have to go through the rigamarole again. I want these deleted.

    Any thoughts?

Type out your validation letters, like on your computer using MS Works or such. Type your name at the bottom, DO NOT SIGN your name because there is NO reason to. None of my letters to any creditor, CRA or collection agency has my signature on them, NEVER!

    Thanks, both of you! :)

I do understand the reason behind NOT signing your name, tac, but my thought was that if I DID sign my married name, they couldn't possibly duplicate it as my signature....and if they were completely idiotic (as some CAs are), they might just attempt to pass off my married signature as the one on their "documents."

I guess that's sneaky of me to try to trap them like that, though, huh? LOL

I will use my maiden name (name on the acct) and not sign my name.

    Thanks again...

By the way, sorry about the lateness of my response...

I only access the 'Net on my breaks at work (I work nights), and I hadn't found your response until today.

    :)
