In a posting you said you were a collector. Many people here complain that the collectors promise them things (such as a deletion of all negative info from credit reports) in return for payment. Then they never follow through. My question for you is this. Is this basically how it works? I don't mean you specifically. I am talking about collectors in general. In other words, is the policy to promise anything with no intention of carrying through on the deal? Question 2: NCO Financial, a collection agency, told me that they are part of Wells Fargo Bank. Someone else her posted last week that they were told by a representative that it was part of CapOne. What is the truth?
Tom, I think you originally posted because you were having problems w/ NCO.. Here is how I got my NCO collection account DELETED from all three reports. I know your situation is different, but this is a way to try if all else fails.. About two months after paying my account (they just changed my CR entry to Paid status), I called their 800 number, and gave the following story: I told them I paid an account off a couple months ago, and was told that the account would be deleted from my CR's, but it was still showing up. They forwarded me to their 'Credit Reporting' department. I was frustrated to get an answering machine, but I figured I'd leave a message, telling the same story, and leaving all of my info. I tried again the next day (trying to actually get a human), and got the ansering maching again...left the same message.. I then called about every 4-5 days for the next month, leaving the same message. The next month, I checked my CRs, and the account was gone.. Hey, if they can call our phone lines every other day and harass us, we can do the same.. =) Their reps will say anything to get you to pay...they probably figured the rep had actually told me this, and I annoyed them enough to make them go ahead and delete the entry.. Sorry you had to spend so much time dinging their phone. Probably cost you a bundle in phone bills too if it wasn't an 800 number. I make them do all the work and send their demands for deletion to the credit bureaus by FEDEX overnight That's because when I get through with them they are real anxious to correct their mistakes and get me off their back. I've got a new one in the works right now. They put a hickey on my credit report and failed to get it off in a timely manner. They should get a totally different point of view about tomorrow morning when the mail man brings them their mail. Bet their tires will be smoking as they try to correct their errors before it's too late. And if they can't get their errors corrected and the proof in my hands in 10 days, it is gonna be too late.
I decided to try a two prong approach. I will send the CA a copy of the letter they sent me agreeing to a deletion along with a copy of the letter the creditor sent me agreeing to a deletion. Tell them it has to be removed immediately. Then, I will send the two letters to all three CRA's demanding deletion. PuuOoPaul: if you are out there somewhere. Do you work for NCO Financial? If not, I have a few questions I would like to ask you privately. Could I email you directly? I don't want everyone here knowing what an idiot I was. I don't want anyone to reply "we already know"
