Today I got my final negative item deleted from my TU report (Thanks Creditnet, 1yr 3 months), but I still have it on my EX and EQ reports. it is Associated/Citibank and will not go away it seems.

So today I decide to apply with MBNA for a credit card since they had inquired on my TU account in the past. Well instead of doing the online app. like in the past, I call in. I'm all excited because I might actually have a shot at getting a credit card (since I learned my lesson back in college).

So I'm on the phone with the "credit specialist" and he asks me about my negative account. I ask him what report he is looking at and he says Experian. Guess they use a different one on the phone. Well I'm sure I'm done for now, but I explain to him my situation and how I am disputing this account and he approved me for $2000. Now that might not seem like a lot to you all, but I paid $234 for a First Premier Card with a $250 limit ($16 avaliable credit) a year and a half ago to start rebuilding my credit. It has been canceled (to avoid the annual fee and that $6 monthly fee), but now a $2000 credit card will really help me start establishing credit again.

My advice is to apply on the phone if you got a small credit problems that might get you rejected online. Maybe people have said this before, but I just wanted to share that.

Thank you all for listening and I really want to thank you all for helping me take control of my financial future. I now have a mix of store and regular credit cards, am added as authorized user, have a car (1.9%, but we will stay out of the new car debate) and am more responsible (pay off all my cards each month and keep low balances if I need to give it a month). Lets hope I continue to use the credit wisely.

I'll keep disputing this last negative item on my two other reports and I now have some new inquires I need to work on, but my spirits are high for the first time in a while. Thanks again.

    Congratulations!

MBNA is a tough cookie and your smart to apply over the phone so you can explain the situation to them. They are no always so friendly via PFB. Once the neg falls off, call back and get an increase :)

What card did they give you?.

Thank you. I applied for a card through a promotion with my company. It was the NFIB Platnium Card. I'll probably get more details when it comes in the mail. Not sure about the interest rate (figure I'll take what I can get right now, fight for it once I'm in good standing) or my score, though I'm thinking it was about 660ish (with neg) and can't wait to see my TU score.

If I ever get that negative off, I'll ask for an increase, but I'm assuming I'll have to wait at least 6 months till I'm eligible, but that is just 6 rounds of disputes as far as I see it.

I did an MBNA Barnes & Noble Platinum Mastercard application on line last month - no instant decision -after about a week they pulled TU, (always my lowest score around 650), so I wasn't too hopeful and forgot about it, then about ten days later they pulled EX (better at 719), the next day a new account appeared on EX, a couple of days later the card arrived. They did a reasonable credit line on it.

I requested a line increase and BAM!!! - the rep increased it instantly. The following day, I checked my credit report and MBNA had already updated the credit line with the bureaus. That's pretty fast. I love MBNA.
