I've noticed that in a LOT of these posts and threads, when talking about sending Validation letters, Dispute letters, Estoppell, etc ... that people are constantly pulling and checking their credit reports. Is everyone paying $8, $9, $14 every time you pull your report? Or are you allowed to pull it ofr free every time you dispute something or send a letter? I've heard Privacy Guard mentioned and something about a Monitoring service, what is that? Is this like a service you buy from the CRA's, and then that allows you to pull your CR whenever you want to? I need to know, cause I'm now ready to launch my repair tactics, and I'll need to keep a constant eye on my credit reports so I can see if certain accounts are being marked as "In Dispute" and whether or not certain tradelines get updated. I don't feel like paying from $8 to $14 every time I need to look at my report. Thanks! FedUp2003
Most people use the services at Equifax.com and Experian.com to monitor their reports. I don't. I monitor my report every couple of months and I get hard copies through the mail. I haven't paid for a report in over 2 years (with the exception of the 1st Innovis report I ordered). I always use the "Denied Credit" reason unless I get one free because of a dispute I have going. My reports are pretty clean now so I don't dispute a lot anymore but I still request a free copy every couple of months from all 3. My Innovis only has 1 account on it and it's positive-no errors.
Are you actually being denied credit, or do you just say you have been denied credit? If you have a dispute in with a CRA, then that means you can request a free CR with them, is that what you are doing? FedUp2003
I haven't reached this point yet, but it's my understanding that you recieve free copy if your dispute causes a change in your CR. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. LOL!
Re: Re: -->Quick Ques - CRA Monitoring Svcs When you say you get to pull the same report for 30 days on Experian.com, is it the same "exact" report, or is it dynamic, showing updates, changes, etc ... Meaning, ifI buy a report from Experian.com, then put in a dispute a week later, then pull the report again a few days later, will the report be the exact same report I pulled the first time, or will it show that dispute I put in a week ago ... Thanks. FedUp2003
Re: Re: -->Quick Ques - CRA Monitoring Svcs In some states, the CRA's have to send you a free report if you are unemployed and looking for a job or on public assistance. I got mine by saying that I was denied credit(which was definately true -LOL!) I use the report number to check experian.com(use the dispute feature-cause it's free) daily and it's always up to date. My hard copy from transunion gets updated and mailed to me after my 30 disputes. Check worthknowing.com for free. or transunion.com. Use one of the above reasons. My equifax comes from an affiliate called CSC. They have to be the worst. Can't see a report online that I know of and I have to wait a little while longer to see if online disputes work with them.
Re: Re: Re: -->Quick Ques - CRA Monitoring Svcs I don't know about Experian. They are the lowest denominator in my opinion. I was referring to Equifax. And, yes it is the exact report. If you disppute with Equifax they will mail you an updated hardcopy but the report online will remain the same until you buy another copy.
Anybody have experience with services like Privacy Guard and something that I only know by it's initials of WK, and then this "worthknowing.com" Is this really free? I want something that will allow me to pull a report about any time I want, and that will have the most current, up to date info on it ... I figure paying a set fee for a service is better than paying a fee per report each time I pull it, and with my luck, I feell that if I use the phone-in request and say I've been denied credit, they will check into it and see I'm lying. Thanks all! FedUp2003
Checked out the "www.worthknowing.com" web site and it seems OK, but it only pulls TU report, and only can pull it every 90 days. I'm not too thrilled about their proprietary Credit Score, I'd rather see a real FICO or at least a FACO score. Once I start my DV and Dispute process I'm going to need to pull at least every month and from all 2 CRA's, so I'm going to nvestigate some more. FedUp2003
