I have a medical collection account on a credit report that is a 0 balance. To make a long story short, it was for emergency surgery on my son, very expensive bill, that thankfully we qualified for a program that paid the bill in full. Due to the very long struggle of filling out ALL the paperwork for the program, much back and forth, it was still turned into collections before we got final approval. I have a letter from the hospital stating that the balance is 0, as well as spoke to the CA, who verified that yes, we have no balance on the account. I want to get this off the credit report, but not sure what letter to send....not mine, 0 balance, etc. Could someone please let me know which would be the best method to go for this?? Thank you in advance for your help.
you might try a "good will" letter to the hospital explaining that the payment was made - through that special program - and ask that they recall the account from the CA and direct them to remove their TL from your accounts. Also, I have heard that people here use the HIPAA laws to their advantage when dealing with CA's and medical accounts, but I have no experience in that.
Thank you pd. Any and all help much appreciated. The hospital has already contacted them and according to the CA, it could take up to 90 days to get it removed (I don't think so). That is why I want to write a letter to the CRA so they will remove it. Again, not sure if I want to say not mine or paid in full or whatever. Which would be the best??
Sometimes the CRA's are on a schedule with their clients, and receive automated updates every 30-60 days. Someone at the CA should be able to override the automated process and make the change sooner Send the Validation letter by certified mail to the CA, and when you get the green card back dispute with the CRA as not mine. Hopefully the CA will not verify their information with the CRA and the TL will be removed
Get a letter from the hospital that the account is being recalled from the CA, and will be removed from your report.
Thank you both for your responses. I will see if I can make any headway with the hospital and if not, then go the validation route. Again, thank you for the suggestions. Awesome as always.
