My electric company is showing lates for a long time on my report. The reason is I got behind a couple years ago and never caught up till two weeks ago, I paid it in full. Now I was making reagular payments the whole time it was just since I showed a balance they show it late. Is there a way to get it off there with out making the electric company mad?
You could always ask the electric company to remove the lates. Sometimes you actually will run across someone who understands that things happen. Since your bill is on time now, maybe they'll remove the lates on your account. It's always worth a try. The other way to deal with it is to get a copy of your credit reports and dispute directly with the credit bureau: as "not late". If the utility company doesn't respond, then the late lisings will be removed. If the company does respond, you're just in the same position you are in right now. Call the company directly first. A lot of times they say no but it's worth a try
