If you called in to your credit card company and asked them if they could raise your limit, would they have to pull your credit info from on of the three credit bureaus or would they look at your account history with them to decide? Does anyone know? I have Capital One master card and First USA visa.

Citibank has both options ... limit increases with hard inquiries, and with soft inquiries. I once asked them to increase my limit from $10K to $15K, the rep said she has no authority to grant that kind of increase in limit without a hard inquiry; she said she would approve me for $2K increase ... I took the deal.

Yea, 1-2K is about what I wanted to raise both of them up to. I guess I should just call, I just thought maybe someone here might have some experience with raising one or both of these specific cards. Thanks

Hmmm my last increase from Capitol One was $1200. Not too shabby in my opinion.

MY OPINION...NEVER ask for a limit increase that involves a "HARD" unless it is greater than $5,000!!!

The is NO difference between a "HARD" and "SOFT" except that they know that your score will take a DUMP!!! 7 points in my case!!!

I don´t care. I rather the revision vs hard inq but sometimes the increase is not automatic and they have to pull your report.

I had a Citi 13.5k for a year without automatic increases. I called and have to let them to pull my report and finally was raised to 15K.

The same with Chase, My limit was 7k. I called and asked to raise it to 10K. They approved 1.5 automaticaly (No inq) and the other 1.5 was approved two days later after credit dpt revision
    (1 inq).

I have a Cap1 Secured.. I requested an increase VIA PFB and they didn't pull an INQ... They looked at my account history I suppose

ALTHOUGH:: something I noticed CAP1 pulled a soft almost everymonth out of my EQ...
    I wonder why?!

The were looking for an excuse to jack you (raise your rates, lower your limit, both, or just drop you). They pulled three on me in a little over a month sometime last year.
