My husband and I currently have credit scores in the 500's on all three CR. What can we do to bring these scores up to atleast 620 within the next 6-9 months?

Well some of the basics things that you can do is dispute negs and pay down balances on credit cards. Also, don't have to many inquiries in a short period of time.

    That's not necessarily so.

There are four reasons stated for each score that it is not higher. What are they?

Your right, that may not be necessarily so. I am just giving generalized info since the poster did not give out any info other than score. You are also right, the poster should look at the top 4 reasons on their FICO report. It could be that they don't have any negatives, and they need to establish credit. Hopefully they will elaborate more on their credit situation so that they can get better advice.

Sorry I didn't give enough information.

My CR has 2 collections from '02, 1 collection from '01, 1 installment loan from '96 that went to collections, 1 charge off from '98, 1 charge off from '99. The good news is I have one CC account that is currently open (has been for almost a year now) that is PAID AS AGREED/NEVER LATE. I do have several inquiries though.

My husbands CR has 1 installment loan from '99 that went to collections, 2 collections from '01, 1 collection from '00, 1 collection from. He has about 25 inquiries.

Have you tried disputing the collection accounts yet? Creditwatch gives a 30 day free trial of EQ reports with FICO and CreditExpert gives a 30 day free trial for Experian reports. You can order the free trial and start disputing online. TU can also be accessed online.
