Sent a val letter out a few weeks back after getting a final demand for payment for a Bellsouth account that isn't mine.

They respond by sending my "verification" in the form of a letter that looks like my 4th grader wrote saying that Bellsouth affirms the amount, and the name.

I called today and got hung up on twice.

First time was when I asked what kind of verification is this? They said the right kind and hung up on me.

I called back and talked to another jerk who tells me that I was supposed to get an itemized bill as they requested. I said that isn't what you sent me and it sure isn't proper verification. He said he didn't even have to send squat and that I should look at it as a courtesy for them to even send a damn thing.

Well, he hung up too but not before he said that he has already reported it to my bureaus which he says was last year. I see nothing on my credit reports showing anything.

The bill is just over a C-note so I'm not too worried.
But these guys don't even give you a chance to state your case or where you stand. If they think your about to make a point they just hang-up!

What a bunch of mother crackers!

You mean having their 8th grade son notate that Bell South says its accurate doesn't provide Validation?

    *GASP*

What are you looking for? A signed application, statements, invoices, etc. How dare you!?!?!?
    </sarcasm>

Too bad they didn't put into writing that they don't have to provide squat, that the 8th graders statement is more than adequite documentation, it would make great reading for the AG, and the FTC offices... :)

Yes no doubt. I'm bored today. Maybe I'll call them back just to hang up on them!

Nobody hangs up on SnakeMan and gets away with it.

....well except for......err......everyone, BUT NO ONE ELSE!

I am guessing its RMA because I am having the same problem with them. After I called Bellsouth to find out when the account was opened bellsouth told me the date and I was 17 at the time. I faxed RMA a copy of my birth certificate and they told me I had better find out who opened the account or pay it myself.

RMA can kiss my ass... BASTARDS .. I had dealings with them also but a letter threatening lawsuit shut them up.

Been there done that. Send them a letter telling them you didn't ask for verification, you asked for validation. They'll roll.

Did the exact same thing to me. But BS screwed up because they sent me a letter saying I had a -0- balance, then later sent me another letter that said the -0- balance was an error. Guess which letter I kept, and guess which one is long gone?

Have we learned our lesson yet?

"Back AWAY from the phone, now!"

They pull this crap ALL DAY LONG and that's how they make their living. Calling is playing on their turf.

    Send letters and stand back.
