How do I prove an bad account was re-aged? I have no idea now when the last activity was, but I have a gut feeling that the dates on my credit report are wrong. Is there anyway to find this info? TU has verified that dates are correct.

You can request statements on account from the creditor... at least, that is how I did it way back.

I need similiar info...to prove that an account which is reported with a growing balance and looks recent, was actually a delinquent account from over 6 years ago. Would requesting a statement or history from the orginal creditor be considered account activity? therefore allowing them to extend beyond the 7 years?

Would sending validation letter 02 (from the sample library) be a way to get the creditor to send me the original, complete and accurate information?

    Thanks for the info.

    NO

    It depends,
If the creditor is the original creditor, NOT a collection agency then they do not have to respond to your demand for validation UNLESS your particular state law requires them to

Even if the creditor is a CA, they usually do not send complete & accurate information

All you have to say is that they are reporting such and such account on your credit report in your name, you believe this is inaccurate information and you require statements on account to investigate. Ultimately, I made two such requests by phone after my letters were ignored. If you admit nothing more, there is NO WAY this can legally be considered account activity.
