I had a credit card with Cross Country Bank (now Applied Bank) And just so you know, I am not a deadbead, just ran into some financial difficulties and those people would not bend.. so I gave up. It was charged off, (not sure when) but date of last activity was Nov. 2001. My mortgage company made me pay it off when we refinanced in July 06. Now on my credit report it is being reported as 90+ days late, 24 times dating back to Nov. 04. Can they re-age this like that or is that a mistake? This is as reported by Equifax. Experian reports it with the wrong amount written off, but it is marked paid in settlement.. due to continue on record until Sept. 08 which seems logical given the last activity date of 11/01.. any ideas would be welcome. Thanks
Legally, they can't, but that doesn't stop them. It should reflect as zero balance and paid. Do you have the record of payment from the financing proceeds? Did you get a pay-off agreement from CCB? Get your paperwork together and then start to dispute.
Actually it is marked as a paid charge off, with a $0 balance, but the current status is bad debt/collection, shouldn't that now be marked as current?
