... have disputed a Chexsystem file and had it deleted? My husband has a Chexsystem file from his previous marriage and the only joint checking account we can get is with Netbank - which is a good bank - but somewhat inconvienent. If you have done this, what kind of letter did you write? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
I've had inquiries deleted. My letter is below: ChexSystems Consumer Relations 12005 Ford Road Suite 600 Dallas, Texas 75234 Date RE: Consumer ID XXXXXXXXXXX REPLY ID: XXXXXXXXX Dear ChexSystems Consumer Relations: I just received a copy of my ChexSystems report. You will need the Consumer ID# & Reply Id#. good luck
Ok... thanks so much for the info. I will go ahead and get a copy of the report. Thanks again. I hope this works.
I've disputed an item off of my Chex report that was deleted. My letter is here on the board if you'll search.
I'm writing a notice of intent to file complaint with FTC letter to Chex, as I type this. I can't get them to do anything with the 2 duplicate entries on my report. My first letter was 2/25/02. My follow-up letter was 5/1/02 (giving them 15 days). Now, I'm fed up and want it off. Period. Good Luck getting anything removed.
How exactly does Chex work. I for instance in the past have bounced a check with the bank, however, I paid it off IMMEDIATLY as it was a honest mistake went to the bank and transfered only 100.00 from savings instead of 1000.00 (left out a 0). I know that I have had no problems opening accounts at banks since then. Does this mean I am not on Chex?
Erica - When you sent your letters to Chex, did they not respond? Or if they did, what did they say? Please keep me posted. It stinks not being able to get a joint checking account with my husband all because of the checks his wife bounced after they had already separated... I think the overdraft fees at the bank totaled $750. And no matter if he pays it or not, it still stays on the Chex systems file for five years. So... it can sit there and rot for all I care. Thanks for responding. Do you have a copy of the letters that you sent to them? What did you say your reason for disputing was? Anything you can offer is greatly appreciated! Ohnostuck - The way I understand it, Chex systems only keeps files on people who have overdrawn on a checking account and then not paid it, or if they were habitual bad check writers. One check would not be anything to worry about.
Chex responded with a "we forwarded your dispute to the appropriate department" letter. But that was on March 19th. That means that they had until April 19th to resolve the disputes. I'm THISCLOSE to filing a complaint. Hopefully my final letter will resolve it. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
I will - good luck. And please let me know how this turns out. My husband ordered a copy of his chex systems report so I will be disputing it as soon as I get it. This may be a dumb question, but while the item on the chex report is in dispute, are they still allowed to use it against you? I mean, after the dispute is started, if we go to open an account at a bank, when they pull the chex report, will it show?
