I sent a letter to Experian for an investigation.
Recently, I received a letter from Experian stating that I did not specifically identify the incorrectness in their erroroneously reported entry and that they will not investigate

The entry is totally bogus. I didn't think I'd have a problem with getting it off. The entry has everything wrong with it, from the identity to contradicting itself on the file.

    Any suggestions?

This is insane. A couple of days ago, I had an account on EXP that I called to ask a question about and told them I did not want it investigated - what did they do??? THEY INVESTIGATED IT!!!

Just call them up and tell them that it is inaccurate but that you DON'T want them to investigate it - and I guarantee you, they will.

No, really, don't do that. Just give them a call - and pick something - anything - that is wrong with the account and tell them you want it investigated. They have to do it. They told me so on the phone today. Their exact words were "if a consumer calls in here and tells us that there is an inaccuracy on their credit report, we HAVE to investigate it - that's our job."

    :) Good luck.

Experian loves to send out those annoyingly generic letters stating that you did not tell them exactly what you wanted them to do.

You have to be very specific about what you believe is wrong with the dispute. i.e. stressing incorrect and illegal entry of an account by an Experian Representative

You aren't just sending in a generic "not my account" letter are you?

You need to use some creative, attention getting (but not too terribly threatening) statements to convey the weight of your dispute while also expressing great displeasure concerning their improper handling of your first letter.

You also need to ask for a detailed explanation of their verification procedures for this incorrectly listed account.

It is likely you will have to go numerous rounds with EXP before one of them is finally convinced to put down their Dolly Madison chocolate doughnut and make the deletion.

Don't ever let them intimidate you.

Even if they say they will not re-investigate a certain item.

You just have to keep being persistent.
