Ok Mark, I figure since you fell off the wagon that I can too!!! I want to apply for a card, a prime card!! Haven't had one in 15 years!!! I NEED TO DO THIS!!! :)

I was going to hold off due to wanting to go for mortgage in Novemeber, but DF and I have decided to wait till March so I have about 6 months to age a new account a little! :)

What would you (or anyone) recomend I should apply for??? My Equifax FICO is 714... (One satified judgement from '99), Experian Fako is 725 (also same satisifed judgement)... I have one '95 coll.account on TU so I figure I'll go for soemthing that pulls Equifax or Experian....

While I'd like a credit limit above $300 (See ya FCNB) or $600 (Cap1), it doesn't have to be an incredibly high limit. I just want to stop using FCNB, but leaving it open temporarly because it's my oldest card.

Since the above are my only 2 cards... what kind of point drop or increase do you think I can expect if approved for soemthing? Other than inquiry... will a new account drop my score significantly??

I'm just iching to apply for something that I am not thinking clearly!! Mark, I am sure you can understand!!! HELP!! :)

I got a $1500 with mbna for their goldpoints rewards card and they pulled TU and experian. they saw the citibank paid chargeoff of 3 years ago but he did not care about that at all. my tu at the time was around 700 and my experian was 630 if that helps. He said 1500 was the best he can do because my past cards did not carry large limits. Make sure you talk to a financial credit analyst there. They were quite nice.

    LOL
Kittie - in the words of a past Prez - I feel your pain!
however - i hope people don't think that what i did was right - i should have refrained from applying - for at least another few mnoths - kind of afraid i'm going to start getting "excessive credit limits" reason codes...

However - in your case - with only a few cards - i think you're fine.
with your Eq score - I'm guessing you can get the GM card - from Houshold and they only check Eq as fare as I know

Thanks for the replies! I'm gonna try to refrain from jumping the gun and actually do a little more reading, but this is a start!! Thanks! :)

Anyone else?? I've looked at MBNA, GM, Bank One....

How hard is it to get Citi Platinum? What if you have a charge-off with them 13 years ago??

I need someone who only pulls Equifax or Experian.

    Thanks :)

You can also try Target visa. They pull equifax. I thing the gm card is a good option also.

Collection from 95? When is it going to come off? I would dispute that as obsolete, it must be coming off in the next 3 months.

Even though the other CRA's have a satisfied judgement, it's still kind new. PERSONALLY I would go for something that pulls TU.

Collection is in dispute as Obsolete, second time around w/ TU... should be coming off in November at the latest.
Really KHM? You'd go for the TU inquiry with the (unpaid) collection from 95 instead of the satified judgement on EXP or EFX? Interesting.. :) I'll have to ponder that one... lol Maybe I should wait till 9/20 to see if CA is coming off 2 months early...

Ah LKH... I forgot about Target VISA... Hmmmm.. decisions, decisions, descisions!!

Thanks guys! I'll keep ya informed...

I had an UNpaid CA from 1998 when I applied for Citi, it was <$200 and they wer fine cause it was so old and so little.

The only one that won't touch it is either MBNA or Chase, one of them says right on their website.

I'd wait the 7 days to see. Try pulling your report now and see if a new TU Consumer Disclosure part pulls up in the "hard inquiry" section, if it's recent (after the original dispute date) then the dispute is over.

Put the Equifax judgement in dispute and get yourself a Target Visa, then see who pulls TU.

Thanks KHM, we are in synch today... my judgment on EFX is already in dispute so I think I will try the Target Visa... Still doing a little reading. Either Target VISA or Citi...

Thanks for the TIP on the TU dispute... that never occured to me. :)

I'll scratch MBNA and Chase off the list.. I did read that on the website...

    Thanks again everyone.

If you apply to Target Visa online you find out right away if you are approved. Your score with Equifax should definitely get you approved since Target Visa is score driven. Also, a tip on Target Visa. You can get your interest lowered BEFORE activating the card. Then wait a few weeks and get it lowered again. I went from 18.9% to 12.9% in 2 weeks. HTH

They pulled EXPERIAN! Score drop... 6 points! OUCH.. EXP Score now 719... but I'm still on my high so not worried about that right now. Maybe Doc's Trick will be working again in a month or so! LOL

I'm in NY if that makes any difference... I thought they'd pull EFX.

    :)

Congrats, Citibank Platinum select is an excellent card. I've had one for 4 years, I started with a 4k limit, and I'm now up to 16,500. You will be very happy with this card.

That's good to hear cuz it was a tough decision!

How often did you get a increase and did you have to request one each time?

    Thanks
