Just an update on my quest to have only one equifax profile.

Near the end of 2000, I found out that I had two profiles. I was unsuccessful in getting Equifax to fix this, and they actually claimed I did not have 2 profiles (even though they were the one who told me I did).

Fast forward to the end of 2001. I found out that I had 3 profiles. As per Equifax intstuctions, I mail my request to have them merged along with DL and SS card. In January, they claim they never received any such request. (I did npt send CRRR because I was house bound). They give me a fax number and allow me to fax the information, so I do this on 2/6. On Feb. 26th, I call to check status. I am informed they received the request and they are working on it and have up to 30 days. On March 18th after hearing no word, I call again to check the status. They claim I never sent any such request, and that instead I disputed items. They also inform me that I now have 4 (FOUR!!!!!!) profiles. They give me a different fax number, and told me to fax the info again. As of today, they have not yet processed the fax. He told me it would take 3-5 days to be entered into the system. At least this time, I have 4 confirmation numbers to prove there are 4 profiles. We'll see what happens this time.

I wouldn't even screw around at this point. They are thanking their lucky stars you haven't filed suit yet. If I were you, I'd file suit for failing to maintain adequate measures to assure accurate info.

I think a judge/jury would agree that if there were adequate measures in place, 4 separate files would never have been created to begin with.
