I previously posted asking if anyone knows a NYC mailing address for Credigy, but I guess nobody does!! So maybe I should re-phrase the question: I have been through the validation process with Credigy, and they have been unable to validate anything. But they are still reporting to the CRA's, and the CRA's insist that the debt is "verified." So I'm ready to take Credigy to court to force them to remove the entry from my credit reports. But it is my understanding that in order to sue them in small claims court, they must have a local address. So my questions are: 1) Is this correct? Does Credigy have to have a local address in order for me to sue them? and 2) Do collection agents have to be licensed or registered in a particular state to collect in that state? Are they required to maintain a local address? 3) If so, how can I track them down? I've scoured the internet and can only find Credigy's GA address. They are registered as a business with the State of NY, but even that listing uses their GA address. I guess I could always call them up and ask for their address, but I doubt I'd get any information out of them... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Even if you don't know anything about Credigy, general feedback about suing CA's and/or tracking them down would be really helpful! Thanks!!
1. No they don't have to have a local address, but in Florida they do have to have registered agent check with the Secretary of State. That address is who you serve. 2. Depends on your state, I would think you would have to be licensed, but as seen here the CA.aka The Collections Mobsters can do operate against the law until called on it. 3. See answer to question #1
