Credit expert! Please help me . I need advice on an account which is re-aged by a collection agency goes by the name of American Agencies. Is it legal at all or not? What can I do in this situation?

    I appreciate your help.

    Re-Aging is not legal.

The DOLA (Date of Last Activity) is the date the account first went delinquent with the original creditor before being sent to collections.

First, you need to validate with American Agencies. As another poster put it, "make them go into the violation spiral." Depending on how they validate, you can plot your next moves with them, the CRAs, etc.

You can find sample letters in the sample letter section of the board. Use this only as a guide line. You need to customize it to you own situation in order to make it more effective.
