I'm new to this forum (which is great by the way!). Haven't really started any "cleaning up" yet as I'm still not sure what to do first. I have a Providian Account opened 10/98, charged off 11/01. Sherman has it (so they report) and and lists the date account opened as 12/01. Is that correct? It's showing up on Exp and Equ with those dates.
First you need to dispute the account w/the CRA. The age depends on when the Collection Agency bought the debt and started to collect. (I think this is what you are asking.) PLUS.. you need to send a Validation letter Certified Return Recipt to the CA.
