i have been reading these boards and have gained lots of knowledge and have gotten up enough nerve to ask a question probably answered many times. i have pulled my credit report and have quite a few over 60 days past on one account in which the balance due is $1500. i would like to pay this account off and do not want it to be on my credit report. if i pay it off, is there some way i can get it deleted from my credit report. i am ready to begin typing the letters but do not know which one(s) to use. thank you for your replies and sorry if this is the wrong place to post.
Right place, and welcome to the board. I don't remember what my 1st ever question was, but I remember being afraid it was dumb too! Couple of questions- is this a credit card account, and with whom? Is the account still open, was it closed by you or them, etc? Details will really help us help you with a plan of action. Again, Welcome to the Board!!!!!!!!
thanks jlynn. i feel better already! it is with chase bank and has been closed by them for over a year now. i have been playing "catch up" since some other things have set me back financially but would really like to get rid of them altogether just to begin alleviating some of these debt headaches. thanks again.
Well, I have no experience with Chase. George has had some problems with them recently (he will probably pass thru and rant LOL!). If it were me, BEFORE I paid them off, I would try a goodwill letter. If the 60+ are old, and you have reestablished a good payment history, that would be your best first choice IMHO. Others might pop in and let you know if planetfeedback.com is the best way with them, or if a letter to someone else is the way to go. If the goodwill doesn't work, and we can't dispute them away thru the CRA's, then we may have to go "nutcase" on them.
