Ok so if you saw my CHOD results you saw I had both disputes verified with Equifax. These items were on one or more of the other two CRA's and were removed because they were never verified. Both of these items are old, date of last activity 95 and 96, one about to drop off early 2002.

Anyway, here is my question...Should I send any verification request (or any notice at all) to the CA's risking them "waking up" and possibly re-submitting the information to all 3 CRA's increasing my trouble? Or should I leave them be, and continue to work only with the CRA's demanding proof of the validation, and redisputing? I don't want to create MORE work for myself.

    Peace, Dave

    Dave,

I have a pd chgoff on EX that showed it would be removed on 11-2001. This was odd because it was opened in 94 and charged off in 97. But instead of waiting to see, I woke the sleeping giant. I had to have it off sooner. So I disputed and re-disputed and then tried a validation with the creditor. I think that I p#$$ed somebody off. They (the creditor, I'm pretty sure) re-aged it. I disputed to EX with an old copy of CR, showing them it was re-aged, and still it was verified. Now I'm going to have sue!

I think knowing what I know now (say that 3 times, fast:) I wouldn't ask for validation of anything that was going to come off on its own, soon.

But it sure is a crap shoot. On the other side of the coin, it's old enough that they probably can't validate it. And anything they do, besides re-aging it, won't stop it from coming off on it's own. Although if they do re-age, It's a whole new battle.

So I guess I'm not much help :) I can't decide what I'd do with it either. Sorry :(

The one that is going to come off soon I would probably leave alone. But, the one from 96 won't come off for at least another year. As long as the statute of limitations has expired, I would probably send a validation. Just keep all your old reports to show the correct date of last activity.

Thanks LKH and Pat. Pat definitely made me think about waking any giants thats for sure.

I think I will leave the one from 95 alone for sure the other is almost certainly not mine. I think it may be a bill unpaid by a roommate many years ago but I can not tell from the CA and the amount. It is under a grand so I guess I could even negotiate with them for removal with deletion...I may try that first but I will have to be careful not to claim ownership of the debt since I do not believe I ever signed anything in regards to this debt.

Anyway, thanks again for the help.

I would send a validation to the one that you don't think is yours. If by chance they do validate, then you send them an offer to settle for deletion. "As this debt is long past the statute of limitations, and in the best interest of both of us, I will pay xxx amount in return for full deletion of the above account. Or something like that. I'm sure you can figure out what to say.

Sounds like a plan. Thanks LKH, I appreciate the advice.
