Does anyone know how long records are kept after paying off an account? The reason I ask is because just a little over 2 years ago I paid off 2 charged off accounts. (Had to in order to get mortgage) Anyway, I placed these two items in dispute w/EQ. I just received my updated report and came back as 'EQ verified that this item belongs to me'. I have a couple of other questions also, why don't they provide me with the info they received in order to come to this conclusion? I didn't think that after 2+ years they (OC) would have any info to provide?? On a good note, apparently Arrow Fin didn't reply because it was deleted. Yipeeeee!! The Dentist office that I paid more than a year ago is now reported as closed but now has been changed to charged off. I think I screwed myseld? At first it was reported as pd w/0 bal but showed open acct. I disputed it and they said that I hadn't paid. Therefore I redisputed and now shows a chargeoff. Sux!! Should I have just left it alone? Wouldn't open w/$0 bal be better than paid chargeoff? Although my score went up one point when this acct changed. Thank you for any help or replies!!
