I'm about to start searching for a refinance for our mortgage. Any tips? If I use an online mortgage broker who 'shops' around for our loan I would expect we'd get hit with lots of inquiries. If you've done this how have your inquiries shown up? Are they correctly coded as for mortgage so they only count as one? Any good/bad comments on any of the online loan services?
Mist If you have read any of my posts on the subject, then you know that I don't think that on-line mortgage companies are a positive for most people. They can't really investigate what type of loan would be best for you. Another thing, you also have to look at what the loan is going to cost you, not just what the rate is. I would really suggest that you try to talk with a good mortgage broker. You will want to interview them to make sure that they are going to work for your best interest. fla-tan
Thanks fla-tan. That's pretty much along the lines of what I was thinking anyway. We will probably work with our former mortgage broker and possibly my credit union and our main bank. Our current mortgage is a 30yr and all we want to do is get a somewhat lower rate and convert it to a 15yr.
