In 2006 I disputed my involvement as a co-signer on a Apartment after it was put on my report as a collection when there was a dispute over the amount owed. The amount was finally corrected and the bill was paid. The tradeline was then removed from my CR. I thought all was done until last month. The tradeline reappered on my 3 credit reports as a unpaid bill. Being as it was 3 years and thinking everything was taken care of the person I co-signed for no longer has the money order reciept. I have read on different blogs that there was a FCRA violation commited by CRA's for not notifying me 5 days of the reinsertion. The collection agency said they never removed the tradeline although I have copies of my reports over different periods the last 2 years and the tradelines are not there. Any suggestions
Was the tradeline removed thru a dispute that you initiated directly with the credit bureaus? Is it the same collection agency?
reinstate tradeline yes.... I disputed to all 3 cra's and also sent letter to C/A. Yes it is the same C/A. I do now have a attorney suing all 3 CRA including the C/A. Thanks for your response.
You answered your own question which was to lawyer up. What are your damages though other than statutory? That will be the biggest issue in the case . . .
