Hi everyone! I'm sorta new to the game here, bear with me. What is the best way to get those pesky 30/60/90 day lates removed from credit card listings. I enrolled in one of those crappy CCCS things a while back but had to dump them when they wouldn't work with me after 9/11. When working with this company, they closed all of the cc accounts (as agreed). Now, my reports show them as closed, of course, but I need to get rid of the lates that a few of them report. I've been paying these off on my own ($4K of $12K since 12/01) and some of the ones I've paid down don't even have me in their database! I've disputed these, but of course they haven't been removed. Is there a magic "word" to get the lates off? Also, does carrying a balance on a closed account do much for the score? For instance, when the other $8K is gone, will my score JUMP up at all? Sorry to be so longwinded. Guess I'm just excited. Smitty "Only 2 things are infinite... the Universe & CRA stupidity. And I'm not so sure about the Universe!"
Smitty, I have been where you are. Take a deep breath. Here is what worked for me, not to say it will work for you. You have disputed the tradelines with the bureaus, if I read correct. Make them send you the proceedures used to "verify" your dispute. It worked for me. One CRA had to remove "ALL" negs because they lied about an investigation. Don't take their word that they completed an investigation, quite honestly, they do "tell tales". Another thing to consider is call the creditor directly, they might remove after they're paid in full. If you do this, "MAKE THEM PUT IT IN WRITING!!!" Don't take their word that they will automatically do it. Sometimes with "credit repair" you have to be a little ingenious. Some things will work some things will not. What worked for me was disputing first, if the tradeline is "verified", send a procedures setter. Basically, ask the bureau how they verified a tradeline. Keep in mind they have 15 days to get you the information. Remember to remind the Credit Reporting Agency of this when you send the letter. Make sure you send the letter Certified Return Receipt. Make sure you start documenting all corespondence. Send disputes regular mail, send procedures letter certified return receipt (creates an audit trail). If all else fails, contact the creditor directly. Ask them to remove the lates ect. Think of a sob story and lay it on thick. Tell them you realized your mistake and your trying desprately to pay them back. Again, with some this might work, some it might not. Be creative. Good luck, I hope this helps you out.
